Christine Marshall
Clark and Rose Accounts Assistant, Christine Marshall, is taking part in two marathons this year in
memory of her daughter Bethan, who passed away suddenly last year at the age of 13.
Christine is raising money for the Children's Heart Association, a support group run by
families and friends of cardiac children for families with, or who have had, children with heart disorders.
Christine, who has worked with Clark and Rose for four years, sucessfully ran the Cape Wrath marathon in Durness on May 23 and is planning to head over to Canada to take part in the Toronto marathon in October.
"Bethan passed away suddenly on Saturday 17th May 2008 whilst out playing with her friends. She was said to have had Long QT Syndrome".
"Bethan's loss has devastated all her family and friends around her and because of this I would like to make more people aware
of the condition and at the same time assist a worthy charity which helps relieve the suffering and distress, and promotes the welfare
of children and young adults with congenital heart conditions."
Christine is hoping to raise around £1,000 for the charity and anyone wishing to support her can donate online
at www.justgiving.com/christinemarshall3.

No Move too Big, or Small!
Clark & Rose, has proved it is willing to go to any lengths, and temperatures, to satisfy customers with the recent
relocation of the Albone family from their home in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, to Vuollerim, Northern Sweden.
Clark & Rose has proved it is willing to complete any removal job no matter how big or small when it moved one
company in Aberdeen from an office on one side of the road to an office on the other side and a family from England to the
very North of Sweden, travelling through the Arctic Circle to get there.
The company completed a recent relocation of innovative pipeline and subsea engineering and management contractors
JP Kenny. The move was one of the shorter which Clark and Rose
have carried out but by no means, did this make it any
less challenging as Bill Atkinson who was responsible for planning and supervising the entire move explains:
"The move was from one side of Union Street to the other and crossing Aberdeen's main thoroughfare on a Friday
and Saturday meant that the move had to be really well worked out. Also loading in Union St meant that passing shoppers
and pedestrians had to be factored into the equation."
"The other thing was that we were moving the J P Kenny staff into newly refurbished premises so someone had to be on
hand with a desk plan to more or less direct the incoming effects in such a way as to cause as little work interruption
for them as possible."
"It's not actually the shortest distance we have moved - we have done a first to ground floor in the past but the
logistics of the J P Kenny move made for an interesting challenge."
On the flip side of the coin, Clark and Rose completed the relocation of the Albone family from their home in
Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, to Vuollerim, Northern Sweden.
Despite having substantial previous experience in Sweden, this relocation was the furthest north which had been
encountered by the company and resulted in the vans being equipped with "super" anti-freeze for the sub-zero conditions.
The move took a total of eight days from collection to delivery.
Gary Beattie, Clark & Rose's London Branch Manager, said: "This move was slightly different to our previous
jobs in Sweden because it was so far North and our drivers eventually found themselves travelling within the Arctic Circle,
a first for Clark & Rose."
Clark & Rose Employee Racing in London Marathon for Charity
Clark & Rose accounts assistant, Christine Marshall, is stepping up her training ahead of this year's London Marathon which she will take part in to raise money for the CLIC Sargent appeal.
Christine has decided to nominate CLIC Sargent, a charity caring for children with cancer, as beneficiary of her fundraising efforts because a friend and running partner's child had previously been diagnosed with leukaemia and the family received a great deal of help from the organisation.
The London marathon has always been a goal for Christine and she considers it high up on her 'to do' list before she reaches 40.
Christine has previously taken part in 10ks and half-marathons but this will be her first attempt at the 26 mile competition which saw over 35,000 runners taking part in 2007.
Christine has made many sacrifices due to the intense training she is going through and she is sticking to a strict diet, ensuring a minimum of eights hours sleep per night and cutting back on nights out. She said:,
"I am extremely excited about taking part in this year's London marathon and I would like to thank all my colleagues, friends and family who have so generously donated to my fund which will be donated to CLIC Sargent.
"My training is going very well and I am grateful to all at Clark & Rose for your words of inspiration as you head to the pub on a Friday night!"
